National History Museum of Latvia

Visitors can view the evolution of Latvia and its people from the Stone Age to 1941 here. Just walk up the stairs past the President’s office and find exhibits displaying a variety of themes including Bronze Age artefacts, ancient currency, folk costumes and traditional farming tools. Of particular interest are the black and white still photos of farmers demonstrating their specialised tasks. Displays are only available in Latvian, but an English brochure to the museum can be also be bought.
