BANUZIS Sports bar

The funky name of this bar takes its origins from the way the very first Riga Railway Station (built 150 years ago) was called by the locals – “Bānūzi”. After arrival to the train station, travellers usually began exploring Riga right in this street that opened their way to the southeast side of Riga, and also given name of Bānūža Street. This was later renamed to Gogola Street after the famous Russian writer.

Now the main streets are focused on the other sides of Riga and Banūzis is only remembered as a small pub beside the Academy of Culture that welcomes in students and hipsters to gather for a very affordable pint of beer wth snacks and a live Sports TV broadcast.
