St. Alexander Nevsky Church

St. Alexander Nevsky Church – a unique wooden architecture monument of the first quarter of the XIX century, as well as one of the most honoured and beloved orthodox churches in Riga, is an Orthodox church located in the central district of Riga. It is situated at the address 56 Brīvības Street, just a walking distance from the Monument of Freedom. The church has become a kind of a symbol of inter-religious, universally human and transnational unity – it is visited by people of different confessions, Riga citizens and visitors.

The ancient church is a UNESCO World Heritage site and its classicist-style building, surrounded by rotunda columns, is a municipal and national architectural monument; it is registered in the list of protected cultural monuments as an example of classicism style of the first quarter of the XIX century and is considered a true architectural masterpiece, which has remained until today.
