The ancient volcano Vachkazhets- and its surroundings are one of the most beautiful places of the pristine Kamchatka nature. In the translation from Itelmen Vachkazhets, “a stream running along the stone back”. In ancient times the Vachkazhets was a single volcano, but as a result of a strong eruption, it exploded, which led to the division into three main clearly defined parts: the town of Summer Cross (1417 m above sea level). Vachkazhtsy (1500 m above sea level) and Vachkazhets itself. In the area of Summer Cross, two large volcanic circuses have survived to this day, which, are the remains of the crater of a single, large volcano.
